Home Buyers Down Payment Assistance includes 20 zip codes in Nevada that have been identified as the hardest-hit by foreclosures, delinquency, and negative equity, and 18 of them are right here in Clark County.

To stabilize housing prices and prevent future foreclosures, there’s now $17.9 million available for home buyers.

The money, which is being offered as part of the Treasury Home Buyers Down Payment Assistance, will be given to around 900 Nevada families to help make a down payment towards a single-family home, condo, or townhome in the struggling areas.

Eligible homeowners can receive Home Buyers Down Payment Assistance up to $20,000 from the program.

U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto announced the release of the funds on Monday.

“I worked closely with Treasury to secure this assistance, and I’ll continue working with the Administration to ensure the timely release of resources that help prospective homebuyers in the Silver State,” Cortez-Masto said.

“I appreciate the Nevada Affordable Housing Assistance Corporation and Nevada Housing Division leaders who made sure the program met the requirements so we could utilize all the funds awarded.”

This is the second round Down Payment Assistance funding. Previously, the treasury released $33 million in assistance to about 1,760 households.

To receive the assistance, your annual income must be less than $98,500, you must not own another property, and the property you’re purchasing cannot cost more than $400,000.
